Every parent wants the best for their child, but how do you prepare them for all the challenges that they face in today's world? How do you teach them the motivation, discipline, and proper attitude necessary for success? It's not an easy task because this type of education is not found in our schools. It's not found on our soccer or little league fields. It's not even found in our community organizations and that's really a shame. In fact, it's a crime because teaching children the basic traits like goal setting, motivation, and self-esteem, at a young age, can have a massive impact on what that child accomplishes in later life.
With almost 40 years of experience teaching martial arts at Family Karate Center, we have seen children who were shy and withdrawn, lacked self-confidence and focus, perhaps because they are a little slower than other children in their class. Some begin training in Karate as young children and have special challenges. They have a need of special education assistance and play sports but nothing has seemed to help them until their parents enrolled them in our karate program!

They begin training in karate because it was something they have always wanted to do. They have found it to be a lot of fun (and still do!). Their progress at first was slow because their coordination was poor but the instructors at Family Karate Center kept working with them. As they progressed in rank through the belt system their confidence began to improve. Their focus and concentration also improved and their grades got better. Their attitude, self-esteem, and motivation also increased. But it wasn't just their grades, the ability to make friends, and their athleticism that improved, "It was their entire life!".

We believe that we offer the best in martial arts training. But besides training a child to their fullest potential as karate practitioners we have made it the mission of our school to help empower the community through the personal development and character education of our children. Our training in karate has led us to accomplish many things in our lives and we feel that any child who trains in the martial arts will achieve their goals and dreams! All children who have trained in our school have been impacted in a positive way.
Over the years, we have seen thousands of children benefit from our unique programs. Overweight kids who lost a few pounds through self-discipline and exercise only to gain massive amounts of self-esteem and confidence. Smart kids, bored with school, who learned to set goals and reach higher. Wild kids who learned how to focus and channel their energy in a more positive direction. And shy children who were brought out of their shell.
All these children and the thousands of others who have experienced our program have gained a foundation in the basic tools of success that will last them a lifetime. Much as learning to ride a bike or learning to swim, once the skills of success and achievement are introduced to your children they never go away. The pay-off just keeps on going for the rest of their lives. Lives filled with proud moments of achievement backed by good health and happiness. Where do children learn such wonderful tools?
